Huckabee stands by ‘Christ’ comment

DES MOINES, Iowa – Mike Huckabee, a Republican relying on support from religious conservatives in Thursday’s hard-fought presidential caucuses, on Sunday stood by a decade-old comment in which he said, “I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ.”

When we understand that this nation and all others already belong to Christ, we do not need to place our hope on whether or not Jesus will reign here. He already is through the Church of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Leaders (kings) are set up as well as governments by our Lord to both bless and judge, whether it be Iraq, Iran, Russia or the good ole US of A.

1 Samuel 2:7 – The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts.

Psalm 22.28 – For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.

Psalm 102:28 – The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
