Atheist Christopher Hitchens writes about Polanski’s Rape of a 13 year old girl…

October 13, 2009

Save the Children

He states: The law prosecutes those who violate children, and it does so partly on behalf of children who haven’t been violated yet. We take an individual instance, whoever the individuals happen to be, and we use it for precedent. And we do not know how lucky we are to be able to do so.

My questions for him is this: Being an atheist, what moral standard can you base this statement on? Do you consider what happened evil… and if you do, how can you say that there is evil?

He can’t. There is only popular feeling, and popular feeling can easily be manipulated by whosoever is in power.
