I think it’s hypocritical…

December 10, 2009

I think it is hypocritical to go after Tiger Woods as the media does and not go after all the other major athletes who do the very same things. We ride the ride with these stars, such as Brittany Spears, and then glory in their downfall with all the juicy gossip! I cannot stand it! The world is so cruel and heartless. Tiger Woods is a human being, sinful just like me, and in need of a savior, just like me, and is able to come to the foot of the Cross and receive forgiveness, redemption and rescue by Jesus, just like me! The world loves you when your up because you’re a good story and also loves it when you’re kicked down because you’re a good story…

The Gospel is so much different! Pray for Tiger… I will.

Tiger deserves prayer to be sure, but he also has another job which is to serve as an example of what happens when you hound-dog behind your wife’s back.

Be sure, sin will find you out. A Proverb unfolds right before our eyes.

Yes, sin will find you out… and this is happening. However, all are guilty of sin and Tiger should not be kicked while down which is what the media does. Redemption for sinners is what we want, not Pharisee-type attitudes. “Look at the sinner! Stone him!”

No… we are all guilty and need the same repentance and grace. Tiger needs Jesus like you and I both need.

I think Elin would rather club him than stone him. Adds a touch of poetic irony to the whole situation!

I totally agree with you. Yes what Tiger Woods did was wrong, but who are we to judge him, we have all sinned at some point in our lives.

All of our tabloid sensationalism seem really sick! Its a media feeding frenzy upon the cultural idols of Hollywood and sports world. But then what else should we expect of mankind given our history?

It is sick the way the media does things, but two thoughts…

1.) The media is a business. It is a slick business that tries to manipulate public opinion, but it is a business nonetheless. As far as the content ot the news of this sort, the real problem isn’t the sensationalism of the media, but rather those who continue to read or listen to it. If people like to read trash, someone will provide it.

2.) As far as Tiger goes. we need not feel sorry for him. He has made a nice living off of being a public icon. He is now realizing that there is also a cost to being a public icon. There are millions of people who play golf that don’t get near the reward that Tiger gets, and there are millions of people who commit adultery that don’t get the scourging that Tiger gets. He can’t pick and choose the ramifications of his fame. It’s both, or neither.

In a way, I’m glad to see a little public scourging of infidelity. Maybe it is being handled the wrong way, but at least there is an acknowledgment that what Tiger did was wrong. Tiger’s problem is that he plays the wrong sport. If he were in the NBA, his infidelity would make him a hero. :)
